how do I add a table to the Steps field?

Our company is moving from TFS to JIRA.

Part of this move includes moving 600+ test cases from TFS format
with 'Actions' and 'Expected Results' to JIRA.  JIRA's default test
case 'Steps' is a text field.

Is there a way to configure JIRA to have a simple two-column table in the 'Steps' field?

Make sure the steps field is unlimited text, then check that the "renderer" is rich-text.

You'll find text like

comes out as a table
