how to filter activity stream by user after Jira cloud upgrade to no usernames

After migrating our server Jira to cloud based Jira and upgrading from version 7 to 8 in the process, the activity stream does not seem to be able to be filtered by username.  This makes sense as Jira has done away with usernames in Jira cloud but, I would still like to filter by user in the activity stream.  Am I out of luck or is there a work around?
