how to lock field in jira

I want to lock the start date field in the Enter Log Work field

Hi,

the "Date Started" field is part of the "Log Work" function that comes when you put "Log Work" (System Field) to a screen.

It seems to have special handling and making it read only seems not possible from what I found out.

You can only configure permissions on a global basis for logging work (for example using Work on Issues permission). Please see more details here.
