i have deleted 1 project & have done its back up to a .zip file. How do i restore it?

Assuming you used the whole system backup, then you can use "project import" to restore it.  See https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/restoring-a-project-from-backup-185729444.html

How did you perform your backup? What is that zip file?
