jira https problem with Portecle

Marcin Sulej August 1, 2018

Hello. I'm trying to configure jira (ver 7.9) to work with ssl. I've downloaded and installed Portecle but when I run it i got the error message "This application requires a Java Runtime Enviroment 1.7.0" My Jira installation is integrated with java (not separate). I've set up manually JAVA_HOME variable to point to C:\Program Files\Atlassian\JIRA\jre\bin. What else I can do to make it work ?

For Windows environments, I have almost always had to set the JAVA_HOME as a system variable first and then actually restart the box before other applications would actually honor the value have set there.

But also, I have seen some confusion between that that expected path should be.  This is why I like to install Java separately, so I know the correct path always.  But you technically don't have to do that if you don't want to.

I think there might be another problem here with using the \jre\bin path.  I think instead it should be just C:\Program Files\Atlassian\JIRA\jre instead as per our Installing Java guide.   Try that and restart the windows machine once more to see if this helps to get portecle started.
