jira subject alternative name SSL certificate

Does JIRA support the use of SAN certificates. I want to be able to refer to a JIRA server by both it's hostname and a CNAME. I've created an SAN certificate however SSL only seems to work properly on the A record and not the SAN. 

Anyone done this before?

I'm not sure what is not really working for you but certain links in JIRA are generated by the Base URL value. While you may be able to configure your proxy and your certs to handle different domains, you have to keep the previous statement in mind.
