I have production and test Jira instance running in Linux environment. is there a way we can sync production with test instance on a daily basis .

I suppose you could script this.

In my mind the framework would be:

  1. Stop the test jira instance
  2. Backup the prod database
  3. Restore the prod database to test database
  4. Sync the server attachments directories
  5. Restart the rest jira instance

Assumptions

  1. test and prod are on the same version
  2. test and prod have the same installed market-place apps

 

The other thing I've seen people do involves cloning the application server vm, pointing it to a new copy of the prod database.  Also requires scripting/automation.
