learning jira server and datacentre

More than 1 question i'm afraid.

We are using jira software server at work and will move to dc when needed. I am looking to do the ACP-100 in the future. I want to be able to learn away from work as well. This leads me to 2 questions.

1. I would like to run jira software server on an amazon ec2 instance free tier so I can do this. Any instructions on how to do this would be helpful.

2. Failing the above I want to run this on my laptop. I have a windows machine with 16gb of memory yet it does not seem to be very quick running. Is there optimum settings I need to put in to jira or tomcat server settings. There will only be one user or a couple of psuedo ones.

Hi Fred,

there is documentation around but I believe it will come with some needed time to invest for learning.

For the AWS part documentation is here:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/getting-started-with-jira-data-center-on-aws-938846966.html

I understood the second part of your question in a way you want to install Jira on a Windows laptop. The documentation for it is here:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/installing-jira-applications-on-windows-938846835.html

As for the memory settings this depends on your hardware and use case. For the moment it sounds this would be only a test environment. Further reading is available here - but also here applies that you need to do tests and invest time for learning.

Daniel
