migrate classic fix version to new board sprints?

We were just migrated from jira studio to ondemand. Since the classic boards are deprecated, I created a new board. We had been using the fix version as our sprint bucket with greenhopper, but in the new board it appears that sprints are a new concept and not related to fix versions. Is there a way to migrate this old sprint data, or do we have to make those data changes again manually?

Hi Dan,

Unfortunately, there is no way to move the old sprint data to the new one. You will need to create the new boards and new sprints from scratch.

Thanks Clarissa. I have a followon question then.

We're using the classic boards as if they are sprints so we have a whole bunch of cards that are in the planning stage as candidates for items to be put into new sprints and new cards keep coming into that stage. Is there a recommended way of transitioning to the new cards while still bleeding off the existing cards in sprint planning? Is there some documentation on this? Otherwise, I'm afraid we'll never transition to the new boards. I'm just not typing in all those cards all over again.

Hi Enis,

Actually, the cards in the Classic Boards are issues in JIRA, so when you create the new boards, it is possible to use them in it. Also, since the Classic boards work based on JIRA versions and the new boards use the new Greenhopper field called Sprint, the data from the classic boards (contexts, task board mapping, estimations) will not be migrated.

I would like to double-check something. We've been using the GreenHopper for 6mos now and have sprints that are 1 week long. All of that history and existing boards are in now the Classic section of GreenHopper. Is there no way to migrate all the history to the new boards? Not even the cards? I can see having to recreate the boards but I'd like to move all the card over without having to recreate them. If that's not possible, it is a pretty big oversight on Attlassian's part.
