Hi,
I have an old server withg a jira 6.4 (SEN-2683895) wich needs to be kept for archive and transition usage. But the physical machine is dying and I need to move it to a new one.
I have read the documentation about moving a server but I have a question about the licence after moving. As the physical server will not be the same, how do I detach the licence from the old server to attach it to the new one ?
Regards
Hello,
you could simply generate a dev licence on you decomissioned server and replace it. If you don't know how to update the licence just check this page.
Let me know if it works,

Hi,
The dev licence will not allow me to still use the server in the transition time (~300 users).
The process of having a real new server with a new licence will take several month, maybe one year in the context of the client, and so I want only to move the actual licence from an old dying physical server to a new cloud machine.
I really need to have a procedure to detach the expired licence from one physical server to attach it to another.

Hi,
basically you just need to make sure that both servers are not running at the same time with the same licence. So you can simply shut the old one and start the new one with the same licence and it will work.
