new issuetype at epic level in the

I have added a new issue type called Project in hierarchy at the same level as EPIC but in the epic link, I don't see the project issues instead I see them in the Parent link field. 

So I cannot make any hierarchy changes with the epic link field?? if so, What is the alternative approach to add an issuetype same as epic level

This is expected, epic link is the old field that parent link is replacing, and you can read more about it in this KB.
