parent option of cascading field to be copied to other custom field

Hi Team,

how can we copy parent value of Cascading field to a new custom field which can further be used for reporting purposes.

I have a custom field of type cascading , i want its paret values to get copied to a new field and that field we want to be visible on the issue view screen.

any help on how this can be done, will be appreciated.

This does not work, I tried configuring one with the above mentioned article , but it does not work.
