"Facing Mandatory Fields and 'Retain Field Values' Option When Moving Issues with Sub-tasks in JIRA"

Hi JIRA Community,

I'm encountering an issue when moving an issue from one issue type to another within the same project. Specifically, I'm moving an issue from the "Observation" issue type to "Defect." The process works smoothly if the issue has no sub-tasks, but if there's a sub-task attached, I'm prompted with mandatory fields and the "Retain Field Values" option during the move.

Here are some details:

  • The field configuration and screen schemes are the same for "Observation," "Defect," and sub-tasks.
  • The move is happening within the same project.
  • This issue only arises when a sub-task is present.

Has anyone else faced this situation, and what steps did you take to resolve it? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @Tharunkumar B

While moving the issues from one issue type to another issuetype with subtasks there will be one check box include child issues select the check box and then proceed further.
