"Group" feature on Board?

I'm using a task tracking project and I'm finding that under Board view, there isn't a way to "Group" tasks / create swim lanes. Is that true? How come? This would be incredibly valuable!

The boards for Jira Work Management projects are very simple and don't have all the features that Software boards do.  This includes swimlanes amongst other features.
