Hi!
I've found some similar questions on the board but not quite what I was looking for.
I'm currently setting up a new JIRA project and if I configure the swimlanes for "Storys" the "Active Sprints" boards looks like this - and there is the possibility to collapse and expand the Story to show the linked Sub-Tasks:
Now I want to work with the swimlane for "Queries" on the "Active Sprints" board and divide the board into "Bugs", "Stories (incl. Sub-Tasks)", and "Other Stuff" sections. But if I work with the swimlane for "Queries" it is not possible to expand or collapse the Stories anymore and the respective Sub-Tasks are shown all the time which makes the board rather confusing if there are a lot of Sub-Tasks:
Is there a way to get this to work?
Hi, @Michael Goelles
It sounds like you want multiple levels of collapsing (nesting) items on a board, based on queries/criteria you set. I do not know of a way to do that with Jira's base functions; you only get one level of collapse/expand.
You could check the marketplace to see if any vendors have an add-on to provide that feature.
Best regards,
Bill
Hi; @Bill Sheboy
Thanks for your reply. Well, basically I just want to have the same expand/collapse function for the "Query" swimlane as for the "Story" swimlane option on the "Active Sprint" board. So, no, not on multiple levels, just on the level of the User Story, so that I can collapse/expand possible existing Sub-Tasks.
But this doesn't seem to be possible with the "Query" swimlane option. As the little arrow to expand/collapse is missing and all Sub-Tasks are shown all the time.
Best regards,
Michael

Hi, Michael, and thanks for clarifying.
What I meant was the swim lane option is the first level of collapse, and the additional story/sub-task level would be more. I think we are saying the same thing.
I took a quick look in the marketplace and searched by "board swim lane" and saw one add-on that might help. You may want to ping the vendor to see if the tool can do what you need.
