Did you mean:

"Unable to transition multiple issues due to transition screen", but I have no transition screen??

We are trying to create a workflow whereby engineers transition their completed tickets to the final column 'Done' once they have been released to Prod. (The penultimate column is 'Tested')

In my far-right column I have the 'Done' and 'Closed' status'

When I attempt to move multiple tickets to 'Done' I get the error:
"Unable to transition multiple issues to Released. The transition screen is not supported when transitioning multiple issues."
despite my 'Tested' -> 'Done'  transition not having a transition screen.

Where am I going wrong?

Hi Petter,
1 - I am using the drag+drop tool on the 'Active sprints' board

2 - There is only 1 project on the board

3 - There is only one Workflow applicable for these types, on this board

4 - There are no Properties, Triggers, Conditions, Validators and there are only the 5 default Post Functions (below)

  1. Set issue status to the linked status of the destination workflow step.
  2. Add a comment to an issue if one is entered during a transition.
  3. Update change history for an issue and store the issue in the database.
  4. Re-index an issue to keep indexes in sync with the database.
  5. Fire a Generic Event event that can be processed by the listeners.

There was also 'Closed' status in this column, which I have since removed, which fixed the issue

It appears having 'Closed' and 'Done' in this column was the problem, because Closed has a transition screen, which is obviously not ideal...

Hello Chris,

Thank you for your details.

You are correct th say that the bulk operation from the drag+drop tool on the 'Active sprints' board will always consider the workflow settings from the entire column, not only to single status.

Basically, the problem you were facing is caused by the behavior informed in the feature request below, which we have already requested to improve:

KanPlan - Transition multiple issues to Column with multiple Statuses do not prompt to choose

Hello Chris,

Sorry to hear you are facing this problem.

That's strange... This problem usually happens only when you have a screen configured in the transition that leads the issue from both statuses (Tested to Done).

That being said, I would check the following steps:

1 - When doing the bulk upgrade, what is the filter query you are using?

2 - Are the issues returned from this query from a single project and using a single workflow? Are they coming from a specific status or they are in multiple different statuses?

3 - Are the issue types of the issues returned in the query using multiple workflows? If yes, can you check if any of these workflows have incoming transitions to "Done" where you have a screen configured?

You can check which workflows they are related to under project settings > Workflows

4 - In the issue workflows, check if there are any conditions or validators in the transition that leads to "Done" that might be blocking any issues returned by the query

Let me know your results as soon as you have the change to test it.
