Did you mean:

"You need a new license for this version of Jira".

Romualdas January 4, 2021

Hi,

I have Jira Software 8.0.1 installed. The license expires on 03/Feb/21.

When I press "Plan Your Upgrade" -> "1. Complete pre-upgrade checks",

I see the error message "You need a new license for this version of Jira".

Question is why do I need a new Jira license, if the current is valid now?

Hi,

I have the following licenses:

Here 18/Kov/20 = 18/Mar/20; 03/Vas/21 = 03/Feb/21.

I guess the Jira Service Desk license is causing the problem. Can I uninstall it, since we are not using it?

Best regards

Romualdas

If you're not using it, then yes, you can uninstall it, but before you do that, blank out the existing key by using the "edit licence" button on the page in your screenshot.

Removing the licence should unblock the upgrade itself, but you'll slightly speed up the upgrade if you also remove the application.

What licence have you installed in your Jira?

I ask because we regularly see people who have renewed a licence in their account getting stuck because they have not applied it to their system (many assume their server "phones home" to check the licence, but it does not).  Can we rule that out first?  Go to Admin -> Manage Applications and check what your three licences say (You might only have one, but it's possible you could have separate ones for Core, Service Desk and Software)
