recurring jira issues

hi there. with tasks in Jira Core some of the templates make reference to recurring tasks but when you create a new task there is no option to set a recurring date or frequency of the task. have I missed something here please? Thanks, Steve

Hello Steve,

Per your description, it seems that you have some tasks that are re-executed from time to time, so you would like to track the frequency the task is executed. Is that right?

If I understood it properly, you can use the post function Increment value of a field (provided by JIRA MISC plugin):

1 - Instead of executing a new task every time it should be executed, you would reopen the same task. P.S: for previous executions information, you can use comments.

2 -  Create a custom number field

3 - Add the post function Increment value of a field (provided by JIRA MISC plugin) in the reopen transition and configure it to increment the custom field every time the transition is executed.

4 - The recurring date can be added with a post function as a comment when the issue is transitioned
