Any simple way to manage (physical) resources assignment/reservation in confluence ?

A spreadsheet like form handling a list of items and allowing the user to assign and release an item (like a shared lab equipment).

Each item should have a name, a description and a "free/available" or "assigned to/in use by" state.

Can this be done in confluence ?

If not, can JIRA be the answer ?

Thank you in advance for any insights on this.

Hi @rumburak

I'd say Jira is the answer, and you can use our Booking App to configure your Jira instance in just one click. It comes with suggestions, so that people can see if your physical resources are free or not for the timeslot they select.

I'm the product manager, so feel free to share your feedback or questions.

Cheers,

David

@rumburak

Reading your question, this is more a JIRA project

  • Create the project
  • Assign issues to the right assignee
  • Your have versions (releases) within your project
  • Workflow with statuses/Transitions that your issue will go through

Confluence on the other hand will be more to document your steps and provide details to other team members.

Don't hesitate to ask more questions if needed.

Thank you for your reply. It confirms my fear that nothing beats an excel spreadsheet in this case :) Thanks again.

@rumburak

Honestly there is no comparison between the two.

I can share links if interested so that you can create you first project. Once you get into JIRA you won't be able to survive without it.

Best,

Fadoua
