do I need to install the Jira Service Installer first, and does that have to be installed on a server?
Hey Joshua,
The Service Desk install order depends on what else you want to have installed for there are three main applications to consider Jira Core (the main platform), Jira Software & Jira Service Desk. (Additional details in the break down of the three applications can be seen here)
If you are planning on running a Jira Service Desk install as a standalone application you only need one installer. The installer package at this link will include the Jira Core platform installer packages and the Service desk packages as one item and will install everything you need for Service Desk in one shot together.
If you have Jira Core or Software already installed, grab the OBR from This Link and navigate to Admin > Applications and select Upload an application and load the OBR to install Service Desk.
If you have not installed anything and you want to have Jira Software and Jira Service Desk both installed, you will want to install the Jira Software installer first (which has all the core packages included as well) then install service desk. Software and Service desk are built on top of and require the Jira Core platform install, and both will include the core packages in the installer, but there is not an installer that contains all three applications for a single run install.
The easiest way to do this is install Jira Software as step one. After installing Jira Software, grab the matching Service desk version OBR package from This Link and navigate to Admin > Applications and select Upload an application and load the OBR to install Service Desk.

Earl
