unable to change the workflow status

I am on the view issue screen and the Status show as :To Do but it is static and no options to change it. Also how do you enable the workflow links/steps on top of the view issue screen.

There must be buttons, which would let you change the status like these ones:

that is not showing in my view issue screen. I all the other buttons shown in your screen except for the buttons that can change the status of the workflow.

Somehow those buttons are hidden in my screen.

You are most welcome!

It means that there is a condition on these transitions, which prevents you to see these transitions. If you are a Jira administrator you should look at your workflow and make sure that you have transitions, going out of the To Do status, and that conditions for these transitions let you use them.

If you are not a Jira administrator, then ask your Jira administrator to do it.

this is what I have with no conditions on the transitions. The fact that the buttons are hidden in my screen makes me think that there has to be a way to enable/unhide those buttons.

On the issue view screen choose Admin -> Permission Helper and check that your user has the Transition Issues permission:
