It depends on which version that you would like to upgrade. Kindly note that JIRA 4.2 had reached it's end of life last week, hence you may consider to upgrade to any of the versions after JIRA 4.3. However, of course we would recommend you to upgrade to the latest JIRA version, JIRA 5.2.x, because the latest JIRA version comes with a lot of new features and improvements compared to the previous versions.
