upgrade jira steps

dear All 

kindly i have jira 7.10.0 and confluence on same server 

i want to upgrade to jira 8

is that ok

if yes what steps should i do to make sure 

that server will run with no issue after upgrade

Depending upon the usage and the size of the server. It should be ok if instances are not huge already.
