user names with @ show with weird account number

If I @ mention someone, I don't just see their username, like I used to. I now see ~accountid:<some large number> while editing

For example,

When I type @Ianbebian and hit enter, I used to see

[Ian McLoughlin]

But now I see:

[Ian McLoughlin|~accountid:5c9147d71b780c2c5d7c0898]

When I save the comment, I just see "Ian Mcloughlin" in blue so the issue only shows up while editing.

I'm on Jira Cloud.

Hi Michael - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

That is by design based on the latest changes by Atlassian for GDPR. So, it shouldn't give you any real problem as once it is saved, it just shows the name.
