we are planning to upgrade jira 4.4.4 to jir 5.0

Hi we are planning to upgrade jira 4.4.4 to JIRA 5.0 can you please suggest which way will be the better The following are the methods we are planning:-

1)Upgrading JIRA 4.4.4 to JIRA 5.0 as stepssuggested by JIRA.

2)we are planning to install fresh installation of JIRA 5.0 and then we will take backup of JIRA 4..4.4 as .XML and we will import into JIRA 5.0.

please suggest us or if there any other steps that we can do .please let us know whether we are going in correct path.because if any thing happen whole organisation we will be in probolem

Hi

both ways are good, but for me i will go for the inplacedatabas upgrade (save time) cause the export import will take more time if your jira instance is big

Hi,

First method is a more scalable than the second one and it is easier to troubleshoot as well. So we highly recommend you to use the database upgrade instead of the second method.
