I've encountered a 'mission-critical / business-critical' Jira system used by a global company
and is in use 24/7/365
As such, they haven't re-indexed since their last upgrade (to Data Center 9.4.7) mid-last year (some 7-8 months ago) and I heard that they don't re-index ever since they installed the system some years ago, other than during their annual upgrades.
And no-one's ever complained about anything (that might be caused by a lack of a re-index). they're constantly changing Custom Field options, and constantly creating Jira Projects; so it's a very intensely used system; yet no problems reported that might be caused by a lack of a re-index.
This has got me thinking: what might some 'hidden problems' be from their lack of re-indexing?
Hey @Darren
You might find this article to be a good read! 😄
Best, Max
"Since JIRA 8.13, Jira guarantees index consistency so that performing regular full reindex can be skipped."
These guys are on version 9.
So is this saying that a re-index no longer required, at all, despite the Jira Admin UI telling the Jira Admins to reindex (e.g. because a Custom Field was added, or an existing Custom Field's options were changed)?
