We've added the ability to open external links in a new tab in your browser and made this option default. However, if you like all links to open in the same tab, you can easily change this in YourUserProfile > Profile > Preferences > External links.

The functionality will be available starting with Jira 8.4.

Please confirm for us that you are using Jira Server/Data Center v8.4.

How far through the links are you able to get? Which step are you not finding? Can you show us a screen image?

Notice that the information says the functionality will be available with Jira 8.4. Version numbers are not used for Jira Cloud, therefore this applies only to Jira Server/Data Center.

This is not a feature that is available in Jira Cloud.
