why there is a difference in story points burnup chart "work scope " and velocity chart "committed"

Parveen Taj January 23, 2023

From certain time I am observing that the committed story points shown in velocity chart  for a particular sprint is "x" but for the same sprint the burnup chart "work scope" is showing the value "y".  Also observed x is > y from where those extra points are added?

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Good question.  But I am a bit stuck on what is wrong.  Burn-down, burn-up, and work-scope are not the same thing.

Could you tell us some more about what you are seeing and what you expect from these reports?

Parveen Taj January 25, 2023

In burndown chart the work scope is shown as "55"  and the velocity chart shows committed as "67"..

I want to understand

a)  why we are seeing this difference?

b) what is the ideal situation will these 2 will be same?
