x.509 authentication between Jira and Workfront(or other applications)

Hi,

Recently I'm testing the integration of Jira and Workfront using the add-on https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1218653/workfront-for-jira?hosting=server&tab=overview, which is working fine as of now.
To apply this integration to the production environment, security team asks me to implement the x.590 authentication, but I couldn't figure out how to implement x.509 authentication on JIRA, can you please advise or give me any instruction?

Below is some basic information about our environment.
- Jira server v7.6 (hosted on AWS)
- https is based on AWS load balancer
- Jira login can go with either Single-sign-on or username/password
