Hey everyone!
Most of the time, I use these posts to highlight Loom features, like AI-powered documentation or editing tricks you might not know about. But today, I wanted to take a step back and talk about something even more helpful: when to use Loom.
So I made something simple: a quick video you can share with anyone (your team, your new hires, or even someone who’s never used Loom before) to help them get started with the best use cases. It's like a starter video for sending your first Loom video 😉
Here are some of my favorite, tried-and-true ways to get the most out of Loom:
Instead of writing a long status update, record a short Loom to show what you're working on, what’s done, and what’s next. Capture the context and the details without writing a short story...your team will thank you!
Someone missed a meeting? Or maybe you want to spare everyone another one? Record a quick recap with highlights, key decisions, and next steps. They can watch it when it works for them (and even on 2x speed!).
This one’s my favorite. Before a big meeting, send a Loom walking through context or background so everyone shows up aligned and ready to dive in. These save time and make meetings more productive.
Whether it’s on a doc, a design, or a deck, giving feedback via Loom helps people hear your tone, see what you’re talking about, and act faster. It’s a small shift that makes a big difference.
Trying to describe a weird bug in Jira or Slack? Just record your screen and talk through it. Your teammates (and engineers!) will instantly understand the problem and fix it faster.
Starting a new project? Welcoming a new teammate? Loom is perfect for those quick, personal intros. It builds connection, especially if you're all remote or spread across time zones.
Need to explain how something works? Loom it. Whether it’s a tool, a process, or a report, recording it once on video saves you from explaining it 10 more times!
Let me know your go-to Loom use cases, too. I’d love to hear how you’re using video in the comments!
