Can work log issue mentions be included in linked issues?

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!
This add-on seems to be working great everywhere except for the work log comments field. The issue key is recognized and a hyperlink is created, but the issue is not added to the "issue links" section like it is in the other types of fields (description, standard comments, etc).
I don't see a configuration value for this, have I missed something that I could enable for making this work?
