Cannot log work in zephyr
Hi CK,
We consider the "log work" function similar to the workflow process in JIRA. These features are great for bugs or other issue types, but can't easily be translated into testcases.
Testcases exist as an issue and then are executed multiple times in various environments/builds. As it stands, we just can't have the log work counter functioning as normal on an issue. If we did, each time the testcase was executed you'd log more work on it and total work would be an acculumation of every execution. This could be confusing.
I'd think you want to know how long each execution is taking.
To me this sounds like a correct implementation of the function would be to have worked logged per testcase execution, not in the issue itself. We'd need to build this function in the testcase execution screen area.
I'll add this to our feature request list.
Kind Regards,
Chris
Hi, Is there any update about this feature? We need to know how long an execution is taking. Also we are giving an estimation during test issue creation but can not track time spent. Thanks and regards, Özge

Hi Ozge, We are still tracking this feature request. However, due to giving priority to more popular requests, we have had to postpone this feature. There is currently no timeline for the feature implementation but our project team is aware of it and will continue to look into it as new releases are built. If you know of other Zephyr for JIRA users who are interested in this feature, please tell them reach out and let us know! Regards, Daniel

It's now 2019... and I still don't see this issue being fixed. Is there a way to time log each test case yet?

While Zephyr removes the log work menu item for tests (in kind of a hacky way), it's actually still possible to log work by using JIRA's operations dialog box:
.
(period) to open the operations dialog box.Hope this helps.
Cheers
Remo

Hi Remo,
How you achieve step two "Type .
(period) to open the operations dialog box."
Where you type ".
(period)"?

Just type "." (period) on your keyboard, it's a keyboard shortcut to open the operations dialog box.

Hi,
It is absolutely a required feature. How can the project be planned and tracked without it? We are in evaluation process for Zephyr and this is a real issue.
Best,
Mahnaz

Hi CK,
Could you please send an email to support at getzephyr dot come providing a little more detail about what you are seeing and also the Atlassian-JIRA logs from the server?
Work can mean many things. What are you trying to do? What errors are you seeing? Maybe a screen shot of an error would be helpful to include as well.
Kind Regards,
Chris
