Code Macro with Auto-Formatting

Hi,

One of my colleagues is looking for an improved version of this macro: https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/code-block-macro-139390.html

He says that he's looking for a macro that will auto-format code as it is typed in the page. He also said "I have struggled with the current code block where it strips out tabs and stuff after pasting. It amounts to an HTML DIV with a different font and darkened background. There might be something better". Is there a macro plugin that does this?
