Simple question: Can each component of a project have it's own distinct group? I have a development project with different subcomponents. For 1 component I need certain people to do some testing. For a second component I need different people to do testing. I don't see where I would create different groups and associate these groups with my individual components.
Thanks, D.
To add on to what Ramiro says, you can set the Component Lead and can make them auto-assign new issues that gets created. Also you can add them to notifications so that the component lead is updated about what is happening for the component related items.
It order to replace a team for the above said functionality, create an user in jira with the email id of the team email id and make that as the Component Lead.
As a newbie, how does the component lead auto assign a new issue? I've created a noticiation scheme and added the following: Event: issue created Component Lead. I am not sure about creating the email id. Doesn't that point the email of all of the components to the one component lead?
I appreciate your input!

By email id I mean, in your mail server, I am assuming that there will distribution groups for the people who are supposed to take of a component. And each distribution group will have an unique email id in your mail server. Use that email id and configure it as an user in Jira. Probably call the user with the name of the component to easily identify that this is not an individual. Then in the Component Lead for the project, set this as the Lead. This will result in the complete distribution list getting notified about the changes in issues which are marked for that component.

I believe that when you create a component for a project, it could be used by anyone who is part of the project. You can assign a Component Leader and assign to someone by Default, but I think you can t restring the component usage to certain users.
