How I add estimating?

Hi,

I created a JIRA test instance Yesterday (https://de.atlassian.com/try), I created a new project (Business). Everything is fine but I don't have estimation fields in my issues (e.g. tasks). I can log work but I can not estimate the work before I start. Estimated: -> Not Specified

I have not the fields described in the doku: https://confluence.atlassian.com/agile/jira-agile-user-s-guide/working-with-issues/estimating-an-issue. Can anyone help me out?

Regards
Stephan

First, the default setup for JIRA doesn't include estimates for all issue types automatically.  Have a look at the project and look for its "issue type screen scheme" - descend into that and find the create and edit screen used for "tasks" and make sure the field "time tracking" has been added to the screens.

Second, you're reading the docs for JIRA Software (previously called JIRA + Agile).  Did you sign up for JIRA Software, or just JIRA Core?  (JIRA Core won't have story points or the boards and reports mentioned in those docs)

Hi Nic,

thanks for your answer. You are right "time tracking" was missing in the related screen scheme.

I found also the configuration for estimation in the board options.
(on top) Boards -> choose your board
(right top) Board (dropdown) -> Configure
(left menu) Estimation
Estimation Statistic and Time Tracking: Configure what you want.
