How do I hide done epics from backlog filter in a Team Managed Project?

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!

I am able to hide completed epics from the roadmap but when I use the Epic filter in the backlog to see tasks, the completed Epics are still displaying.

I cannot see any other options to mark as do not show and want to keep the filter view as short as possible by removing redundant epics.
