We recently upgraded to version 5.3.7 when we were using 4.x for some time. I was able to import csv files and update existing objects by entering the Key in the attribute field. When I do this with the new version the Key is ignored and a new object and new key is created. Is there something I'm doing wrong with this version?
Thanks
Hi Trina,
I know I have already replied in our internal service desk, but to help others who might have the same question, I will also answer here.
The imports have had quite an overhaul in version 5, making them much more flexible. We have section on how to set up the imports at https://documentation.riada.se/insight/latest/insight-manager-s-guide/import-and-synchronization/general-import-concepts
In version 5, each import needs at least one identifier, which you can read about in the documentation. For this, the Key can be used. But an Key is only use to identify an object in an import, that was the same behaviour in version 4.
If there are no objects with that Key in Insight, a new Key will be created, not based on the Key provided in the CSV, but depending on the highest key already created in the schema.
So basically, you need to look at what is set as the identifier, and that the information from the CSV set as the identifier, can match the corresponding value in Insight. If you're using the Key as the identifier, you need to make sure that the Keys in the CSV corresponds to the Keys in the object schema.
Best Regards
Alexander
