How to change a custom field in JIRA to be mandatory for selected issue type only?

1. I have created a custom field A

2. Issue Type

- Bug

- Enhancement

- Task, Sub-Task

- Epic

3. I would like to make custom field A to be mandatory for all issue types EXCEPT for Task and Sub-Task, however I would still want it to be able to appear in the screen for Task, Sub-Task (as non mandatory).

You need to configure two field configuration schemes: one for Task, Sub-Task and one for the other issue types. You can read more about field configuration schemes here:
