How to change an Agile Structure configuration

Deleted user August 9, 2018

A user created a bunch of Agile Structure where he unchecked the following:

- Allow changing Epic via Structure

- Add Rank Sorter

Now he cannot move the issues within the structure and he doesn't want to recreate the structures.

Error: Cannot move issues inside the board. You were moving issue test-123

Is there a way to allow the issue move within structure after the Agile structure has been created?

Hi Zahira,

Sure.

I believe by Agile Structures you are referring to the structures created using the Agile template you can select when creating new structures. If this is the case, here is how to fix them.

First the user needs to show the generators that were created. To do that, click the Automation button in the structure toolbar. You'll see the generators (in red) - rules that bring in the issues into the structure and arrange them.

Double-click the generator you want to modify and change the settings. Repeat for all the generators that need to be changed.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick response Eugene. Yes, we are using the Agile template.

The automation displays two items:

#1 Add issues belonging to epics

#2 Insert epics from "Board name"

I edited #1 to Allow changes via Structure but still got the same error:Cannot move issues inside the board.

I did not see any available configuration to allow the rank change

Hello Zahira,

Thanks for the details. Sorry I missed the fact that the user unchecked Sorting option completely, not just Changes Via Structure for sorting.

To get issues ordered by rank and be able to prioritize them inside the structure you need to add the Sort by Rank generator. To do it, put focus on the root element of structure, which is shown after you enable generators editing by pressing Automation button - it's the topmost element in the structure with the name of the structure, under which the generators are added. To set focus on it, simply click on its row.

Then click the plus button next to the Automation button, select Sort, and select Rank (you can start typing "rank" and autocomplete will give you suggestions).

By default it's added with the "Allow changes via Structure" enabled, so once you add it, you'll be able to start prioritizing issues.

Please let me know if this works.

Thanks,

Eugene
