How to incorporate a jql query / query result into an html table

Our Team just started using the Text gadget in Jira and the HTML gadget in Confluence. We would like to be able to create tables with jira issue totals incorporated into the table.

Does anyone have any info on how to do this?

Is this an easy code update or is it much more involved?
