We are using a plugin for Big-Picture, But we need to migrate data from one server to another server.

Please guide us and steps for how to take back up of existing BigPicture configuration and import it into another server.

Let me just add the information that we do have plans for implementing a ready procedure to migrate data between instances (also between cloud ad server).

We're talking about Jira Server, right? You migrate BigPicture configuration exactly in the same manner as if you migrated a website or an online store. Namely, you take a backup of your Jira database in some odd hours, such as in the middle of a night, when no users are logged-in, and then you restore the whole thing to the new server before anybody logs in the following morning.

Now, how to carry out this step by step?

It depends on your server database system, such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server (which I'm not familiar with), but here's how I'd run the process on webservers running MySQL, which I'm familiar with. There usually is some database management application, such as PhpMyAdmin, you access your database through this tool, run the back-up, download your database to your pen drive, hard drive. Then you walk to your new server, plug the pen drive there and restore the new database instance using the very same PhpMyAdmin application.

Both the old and new servers need to run exactly the same Jira and BigPicture versions. I wouldn't take risks and back up BigPicture version 7.10 and then try to restore the database on BigPicture version 7.11.

I would obviously test this during day hours, with all the users still working on the old instance.
