How to use Automation for Jira to require fields before transitioning?

I am trying to require that certain fields are filled in prior to allowing a transition from one status to another.

For example, I want to make sure that "Version Affected" is filled in prior to being allowed to transition from New to Proposed.

Hi Clarissa,

Automation For Jira does not have tools to like conditions or validators to prevent issues from being transitioned. You will need either use the out of the box Conditions or Validators on the transition within the workflow.

Or if you need more power and capability, then try the add-on Jira Miscellaneous Workflow Extensions (JMWE).

You need to use a validator, not included in Automation for Jira.
