In cloud versions, is it possible to export all jira configurations from one instance to another?

Leonardo Di Leva January 28, 2019

I found this add-on (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211611/configuration-manager-for-jira?hosting=server&tab=overview) but as i can see, it is only available for Server version.

Thanks!

Hi Leonardo,

I represent Botron Software the maker of Configuration Manager for JIRA. We would love to make a cloud version of our product, but it with the current APIs available it is not possible.

As Alexey described above you need to create JIRA Server clones of the JIRA cloud Jira instances and then use Configuration Manager for Jira.

So if you are doing one time instance merge this is definitely doable, but if you are trying to implement change management and Test - Staging - Production best practice it is definitely not easy enough.

So why do you want to move all configuration?

You can also contact us at services@botronsoft.com.

Cheers,

Hello,

It is possible to export all configuration from one  Cloud instance and merge it to another. But it will be not as simple as it could be. You would need to take a backup for server on one Cloud instance and install this backup on a Jira Server instance. Then you would need to take a backup for Server from the second Cloud instance and install it on another Jira Server instance. Then you would need to  merge these two Jira Server instances with Project Configurator or Configuration manager, then take a backup from the merged Jira Server instance and install it on Jira Cloud.

Also you would need pay attention to plugins, which are available on the destination Jira Cloud. All info for these plugins can be lost. It depends on the plugin.
