Incompatible update check on Issue Alternative Assignee add-on for Jira 7.13.1

@Jamie Echlin

We just recently implemented the Issue Alternative Assignee add-on and it works great!  The issue we have now though, is we are preparing to upgrade from Jira Server 7.4.4 to 7.13.1 and discovered the Issue Alternative Assignee add-on is failing the compatibility update check.  Looks like it currently only supports up to version 7.12.3, so I was wondering if there will be an update available soon to support 7.13.1 and 8.0.0 or should we abandon the use of this add-on?

Thanks,

Terry

@Terry Beavers,

Jamie not replying on this and other similar threads .. an looking at the current situation that this plugin is no longer fully on Marketplace (just we have access to version) and number of questions related to compatibility I might say that this plugin is not longer actively maintained by him.

Compatibility to 7.13.1 and all 7.x versions should not be a problem since not much change there. Problem might be with 8.x... Overall if a plugin is officially incompatible it does not mean that it would not work. You should always check it on a test system. After that if it would work then no need to worry about much. Information is pulled from the marketplace so current vendor need to update it in order to show compatibility.

This plugin looks like it is Free and in GNU Public License. There is the source code on Bitbucket, so maybe someone would make it compatible to 8.0 and then it might be updated on marketplace. So far there was no commit since 2017..

So far I recommend to test it (even not compatible) and then think about keeping this or find alternatives (depend on the usage). You might also find some smart developer to make it compatible and maybe maintain it later? ..
