Is the Sub-Task Synchroniser still needed to view and have two-way sync between Sub-Tasks in a Jira Project and Structure? The docs say it is, but they're old:
https://wiki.almworks.com/display/structure/Sub-Tasks+Synchronizer
I asked our admin to add the Synchroniser, and then turned on the Sub-Task Automation, and then every single sub-task was shown as a duplicate.
Should I use the Automation for Sub-Tasks and remove the Synchroniser, or will I be losing some functionality if I do?
Thanks
Hi Daniel,
Thanks for posting.
Synchronizers were the first functionality for building structures automatically that we introduced in earlier Structure versions.
In time, we got a lot of feedback from users about it and eventually, we developed our Automation Feature, used for the same purpose through Generators, but more accessible, safer and easier to maintain than Synchronizers.
If you can tell me more about your structure, perhaps I can help you build it more efficiently, using Automation only. But to answer your question, you should be able to use the Sub-Tasks Extender Generator in lieu of the Synchronizer without issues.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Best Regards,
Vlad
ALM Works
Thanks Vlad. I'll remove the Synchronizer for now then.
It'd be helpful if the docs on Synchronizers could be updated to reflect exactly how they differ from each Automation, given they're both still available in the latest version of Structure and seem to perform the same tasks.
