JQL for custom field

I'm trying to use project automation for issue fields condition on a custom field yet the JQL isn't finding the custom field. Has anyone done this? I'm trying to trigger the creation of a linked issue based on a custom field value. Any help is much appreciated.

Developer from Automation for Jira here.

Regarding custom fields in JQL, you should be able to use the custom field name in quotes e.g. 

"My Custom Field" = Example text.

You should be able to test this out with the "Validate query" button.
