Log Time Screen - Custom Fields

Hi,

I would like to have a custom field on the Log Time screen so that the user can categorise what they spent their time doing e.g. 'Developing', 'Testing', 'Writing Specification'. Can you tell me if this is possible or do I have to use a plugin e.g. Tempo?

I need to have this information within the next few hours so I would really appreciate your quick response.
