Populate Table Grid Editor columns with values from an issue

I've run into an interesting request for the Table Grid Editor plugin from a user.  Is it possible to fill cells/columns of a TGE table with a value from an issue?  Specifically on issue create populating a cell with the issue number.  So the issue number ABC-1234 is copied into a TGE column for each row that is completed?  I'm thinking this may be possible using Script Runner in conjunction with the TGE, but I'm not quite sure (I don't recall seeing anyhting like this in the TGE documentation).  Thanks in advance.
