Project with specific need

Shahar Frank April 29, 2018

I need a new project with the following requirements:

  • Single "sprint" / kanban
  • Board with Backlog , Todo , InProgress and Done columns
  • Time estimation (not points) + time tracking
  • Sub-tasks for stories
  • High-level Gantt board
  • Milestones

Is there anyway I can get that without spending days configuring fields and screens?

This probably takes 2-3 minutes in most cases:

  • Create a Kanban project.
  • Check the issue type scheme includes a sub-task type (should do if you've not changed the defaults)
  • Check that the "time tracking" field is on the create and edit screens for stories (should do if you've not changed the defaults)
  • Check your milestones config suits it
  • Make sure your Gantt add-on covers the project

Thanks for the reply,

Followed instructions on a brand new project.

Still no time estimation. Tried to find the field - got this:

Ok, click on the link to the screen and add the time-tracking field.  Should take a few seconds.

Great that did it.

Now I still don't understand where I can `Check your milestones config suits it`?

That one was vague because you have not told us how you do milestones in your system.  I can't really tell you much more than "check your config", when I don't know what you have set up to do milestones.

up till now i used milestones in gantt charts as zero effort items with a deadline date. i used to set links to other tasks that make sure they only end when linked tasks finish. that was using ms projeft style apps though. i'd like to get somethinh like that in jira as well if possible. thx.
