I sometimes get this message from Atlassian:

The following questions of yours are still unresolved:

...Please consider one of the following actions:

...

... * Close the question, if it's invalid.

1. How is a questions resolved? How do the system know it is resolved?

2. How do you Close a questions?

Thanks in advance!

Closing a question is an option at the bottom - those of us with a certain level of karma can close them as duplicates, and I think you can close your own questions (I don't actually know, and can't test it because I've got high-karma access to close)

To mark it resolved, accept the best answer you've had. In some cases, this will be the answer saying "sorry, this isn't going to work".

At the bottom of what?

I just feel like an idiot. Well at least I found out how to accept an answer, so I start there until the Close button enters my life.

Sorry, I was totally unclear there. If you go to the body of the original question, you should be able to see a "Comment ......... 7 views" at the bottom of it.

If you hover the cursor in the ...... area, you get extra options appear - edit, close and report, in my case.

Got it!

(With my 51 karma) I only get the Edit option. Well there is a Create Bounty there as well. Since you're there I'm tempted to ask you what that means.

Create bounty - it takes some of your karma and adds it to the question (you choose how much). Then, when you get a decent answer and mark it correct, the user who provided the answer gets the bounty (on top of the standard points you get for the first answer marked correct). If you answer your own question, I think you just get the karma back
